What is a subluxation?
A subluxation is two or more vertebrae that are misalignedbecoming 'locked' and losing their mobility. This causes the nerve passing between them to lose its strength and weaken its function.

What is an adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is a very precise and accurate force used to restore the mobility to joints that have been subluxated.

How long do I have keep on seeing my chiropractor?
Once the spinal problem has been corrected periodic check-ups may be recommended to prevent future problems and to optimise health. Since pain is a poor indicator of health, it is not a reliable barometre used to define how well we are.

What is the clicking sound I hear during an adjustment?
There are little sacs of fluid between the joints to allow for proper lubrication. During an adjustment, the pressure build-up in the joints give rise to the characteristic sound. Not to be confused with the sound when you 'crack' your own spine.

Why do children need to see a chiropractor?
Many adult problems often start during early childhood. With children's activities and growing stages, the spine undergoes tremendous movement and change making the possibilities of a subluxation quite high. Since the birth process is one of the most traumatic events a child will undergo, it helps to emphasize the importance of spinal checkups.

What is innate intelligence?
It is the life force which heals, controls and activates us. It is expressed through the nervous system. Subluxations interfere and restrict this energy force with the end result being sub-optimal health, and eventually symptoms.

If subluxations are so prevalent, why doesn't everybody hurt?
Pain is perceived differently by different people under different situations. The elements which cause pain are not as sensitive in all people and time can lapse before the threshold of pain is exceeded. That is why damage done to the spine, as in subluxations, can often be felt months or even years after the initial trigger.
